Spain,
Castilla y Leon,
Very dense colour here, dark ruby-red, still with a slight hint of purple. Generous nose here. Quite a lot of oak here, roasted oak with hints of vanilla, spices and a lot of sweet dark fruit, such as dark plum and cherry. With spicy notes of reminiscent of liquorice, anise seed, black pepper. Palate is very dense with a high concentration. There is still quite generous amounts of oak on the palate. In my mind that should need some more time to integrate. In terms of fruitiness, there is really a wealth of dark plum, cherry flavours. Really ripe fruit, but still with a well-preserved acidity. In terms of extraction, it still feels youthful with pronounced tannin, slightly protruding on the finish which is quite long. Despite that ripeness you do not really feel the alcohol. However, in terms of extraction and oak, I would like to put back in the cellar for at least two more years and from then on it should open up quite nicely because it does have structure and richness.
