Portugal,
Peninsula de Setubal,
Youthful appearance here, still with a blue-purple core, colouring the glass. Generous nose here, combining dark fruit with some roasted oak. There are hints of vanilla, a certain pepperiness and dark fruit in the direction of cassis and dark plum. Good grip on the palate. Good density of fruit. Quite high extract, but I think the tannins are youthful and present, but still ripe. In terms of vinification, I think it has a quite subtle and rounded mid-palate. Despite its youth is offering a good level of drinkability. The oak is finely integrated here. It adds some vanilla roasted notes, pepper and juicy blackcurrant and plum on the finish. Quite long finish. Keeps lingering. Still a youthful wine that has the structure to develop and certainly should develop more complexity and harmony, but I would happily drink it today.
