Cantina Sociale Mendrisio – Monticello Vini Racconti Riserva – 2012

Deep colour, ruby-red with a slightly garnet rim. Intense nose. Generous with some roasted oak, a hint of coffee, a slight hint of vanilla. Then we have a touch of leather with plum and mostly red berry fruit, like red currant. Palate has quite good density. It is I think now quite good drinkability. It is already rounded it has a fairly high level of extract. The tannin seems finely integrated, however, a still bit young with balanced acidity. There is a quite fine oak as well, still present on the palate, with juicy plum, red berry fruit. Good density of fruit. Quite long finish. Persistent with potential for further development, but I would still call it quite drinkable already today.
