Blaye Cotes de Bordeaux

France,
Bordeaux,
Quite dense core, dark ruby-red, but the rim is indicating some more age, turning into tawny. Quite expressive nose, also starting to show some maturity and complexity. There is fine roasted aromas here. Quite fine oak. Also a good degree of earthiness, I pick up some black truffle. Quite perfumed floral at the same time, with that touch of violet, very sweet and ripe red berry fruit. Very good grip on the palate. High concentration here. Very high concentration, both in fruitiness and extract. I would still say this is aromatically, it has a nice development. Still youthful on the palate. Nothing is hard or angular, but still a lot of extract there. Really fine freshness that gives a lift to that sweet red, almost jammed fruit. Of course it stays classically dry on the palate. Really long and lingering finish. Already with a good dose of spiciness and complexity. Really fine length here. Nice modern expression with well-handled oak and plenty of opulent fruit. Starting to show maturity already. I think this can be enjoyed from today and onwards. Preferably after a thorough decantation because it needs some time to open up. It should certainly will have a very long life ahead of it.
