Austria,
Burgenland,
Medium-deep, ruby-red colour, still with a slight hue of purple, but moderate colour intensity. Fine nose here, with good purity, quite ripe and sweet fruit. Mostly red fruity, with mild spices like black pepper and clove. Discreet oak. Approaching some kind of maturity right now. Attractive palate. A bit more than medium weight, but with good flavour intensity here. I think this is already quite rounded in terms of texture. The tannins are truly starting to integrate. Attractive, red fruit here. Very distinct spiciness again, with the four mentioned spices lingering on to the finish. It certainly has a good length. It does a bright acidity and clarity fruit flavour. The oak is discreet and laid back. A very fine expression of, what I would call, distinct Austrian spicy fruit. Should be a blaufrankisch or a blaufrankisch blend. Really appealing with a good drinkability today or with the potential for four to six more years.
