Portugal,
Dao,
Youthful colour here, still with a very dense core, with some ruby-purple notes, but starting to lose a bit of that intense colour towards the rim. Which is more in the direction of ruby-red. Intense nose here, combining fine oak ageing. Intelligent use of oak. With sweet red and blackberries. A lot of spiciness as well with white pepper, ginger. I think this is starting to develop nicely with more complexity emerging as you swirl the glass. Good bite on the palate. Appearing almost sweet at first. With a lovely dark fruity character here, with sweet berries, almost with jammed berries, underlined by some of those roasted notes from the oak. With a lot of spiciness. Tannins are finely grained. High ripeness, but with well-integrated taste of alcohol. Long lingering finish. A wine which is really attractive already and should have the potential to be aged for another eight to ten years.
