Italy,
Piedmont,
Red wine with a very youthful colour here, dark purple-blue. Generous nose, more on the fruit-driven side; well, there’s a slight hint of wood actually, with a slight hint of butterscotch and vanilla, and then dark sweet plum and dark berries. Palate I would say has medium weight, a bit more; medium towards full. It has a good volume but the extract is quite soft; not too much tannin to talk about, so it’s quite accessible in terms of the texture. I think actually here that the wood is really adding to that texture, it’s adding a certain hint of freshness with those roasted notes. Otherwise it’s I think a balanced acidity. Really ripe dark fruit, well-integrated oak in this one; it’s warm and round on the finish, quite opulent, with a good length. Definitely a style that could go on for a few years, but it’s showing really well now.
